The Groves
Turtle Grove (95 trees) was planted in the fall of 2005. Turtle Grove is located in Maxwell Park in Normal, IL. The Town of Normal website has pictures of the actual planting of the trees done by Normal Parks and Recreation, pictures from the Turtle grove planting Ceremony, and pictures of some of the teams. You can also read the stories that some of the teams wrote about why they planted a tree in Turtle grove and what the experience meant to them. Windrow Grove (14 trees) was planted in the fall of 2006. Windrow Grove is located at the Interstate Center in Bloomington, IL. The Town of Normal website has a slideshow of the Windrow grove planting Ceremony, and pictures of some of the teams. Eagle Grove (109 trees) was planted beginning the fall of 2006 and was completed spring of 2008. It is located in Maxwell Park, just north of Turtle Grove, in Normal, IL. Winter Hill Grove (123 tree) was planted beginning the fall of 2006 and was completed in the spring of 2008. It is located in Ewing Park III in Bloomington, IL. The Town of Normal website has a slideshow of the WinterHill grove planting Ceremony, and pictures of some of the teams. Prairie Grove (29 trees) was planted in the fall of 2008. Cardinal Grove (27 trees) was planted in the fall of 2009. It is located on the campus of Glenn Elementary School. Sugar Creek borders the grove on the north and Fell St. borders the it on the East.Pictures from the planting ceremony can be seen on our Facebook Page.
The following groves are planned for 2011. Golden Grove (a total of 88 trees) is located on the campus of Bloomington High School in Bloomington, IL. Phase I (45 trees) was planted in the fall of 2008. Pictures from the planting ceremony and of some of the teams can be seen on our Facebook Page. Phase II (43 trees) is being planted in the fall of 2011. Bur Oak Grove (a 54 trees)is being planted in Bloomington's Kickapoo Park at the Grove, 1 mile east of Towanda Barnes Rd. on the north side of Ireland Grove Rd. The first planting of 23 trees was celebrated May 15, 2010. The planting for the remaining 31 tree is scheduled for the fall of 2011.
