Bur Oak Grove
Bur Oak Grove (located 1mile east of Towanda Barnes Rd. on the north side of Ireland Grove Rd.) is being planted in partnership with The Grove on Kickapoo Creek and Bloomington Parks and Recreation. This grove is being planted in Bloomington's Kickapoo Park at the Grove. There are already over a dozen Bur Oaks 300-400 years old in this new city park. These "sentinels" of the prairie will be joined by 54 other new trees representing 14 different species. Twenty-three trees were planted for the May 15 spring planting ceremony. A November 2011 planting is being planned for the remaining 31 trees. Trees will be ordered in early October. Act Now! Sponsor a tree for the November 2011 planting.
